My suggestion is to look at the resale sites - TRR, Fashionphile, Rebag, etc., and look at the older caviar bags v. lambskin bags. The caviar bags retain their value better AND are super durable. I have a 10+ yr old jumbo classic flap that looks like new and I have travelled internationally with it. The lambskin bags are lovely too. Sad to see, old Chanel lambskin is amazing quality. New stuff is definitely not. However, I think bags that have a finish, especially light colored bags in delicate leathers, are prone to this. Lamb skin is a rather delicate skin. It may scuff easily. Call Chanel and ask if they recommend any leather cream. I use a cream to keep my lamb skin jacket soft and supple.
