I have handled and inspected several recent Hublot watches this way, and I came away more positively humored than expected. The Big Bang Unico Dark Green Ceramic, for instance, is a desirable object in hand. Pushing the chronograph buttons is a satisfying and confidence-inspiring sensation.
Hublot is indeed a Swiss brand and relies on Swiss movements although the owner is the French LVMH. However it’s not the ownership but the manufacture and the movements that determine whether or not a brand is truly Swiss. It seems to me that it was THE watch to have in the 90's, but it is not so hot anymore. I know they use ETA base movements in a great deal of its line and that they made innumerable Limited Editions, but so did other brands and .Hublot—already established as a boundary-pushing watchmaker—created this limited-edition Big Bang with skeletonised dial, a signature rubber strap and open caseback where the in-house HUB4700 movement is displayed. For those of you movement purists out there. it has the Frank Muller 2800 -aka- the ETA 2824, not a high-end in-house. but a workhorse that's accurate and proven. So Franck, if you're out there. know this.
