When visited Kalkan 3 years ago there was a watch shop down by the harbour, near Hotel Pirat which we visited. Bought a watch which has been excellent. We are returning in June this year (hooray!) and wondered if this shop was still open. And I can't believe the prices some of the fake watches sell for!6 years ago. Not specifically for Kalkan but watch shops are abundant in Turkish resorts. Bear in mind that those on display are bought by the kilo in Istanbul. The top-quality fakes are kept locked away and you have to ask to see them. Expect to pay £50-£100 for the very best fakes while the cheapest start around £5.
A great place to find real 'genuine fakes', including well made watches, luggage and hand bags. Traditional Turkish pottery can be found in abundance, and there are several jewellery outlets. Our favourite, Yardan's, sells exclusive silver, gold and diamonds.
