Maria Grazia Chiuri invited Grace Wales Bonner to present an interpretation of the revolutionary ‘New Look’ silhouette from Monsieur Dior first show in 1954. Her take on the Bar Jacket and skirt combining crochet raffia was presented at the Dior Cruise 20 show at Palais El Badi, Marrakesh.⠀⠀ London-based designer Grace Wales Bonner and artist Mickalene Thomas were both invited to reimagine the signature Bar jacket and New Look skirt. Wales Bonner’s appeared on model Hiandra Martinez, with crochet-like stitching appearing at the sleeves. Her skirt used the same technique but was also embroidered with flowers.
